Is Microneedling safe?

How many treatments will I need?
It’s important to note that Microneedling requires more than 1 treatment and may take several months to see full results. Patience and consistency are key! We recommend a minimum series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced every 6 weeks apart for impressive results. There are, however, many different factors that can influence the effectiveness of treatment. Our professional aestheticians will prescribe a customized treatment regimen right for your skin type and skin goals.
Am I a good candidate for Microneedling treatments?
If you are suffering from the appearance large pores, chronic acne and/or old wounds from acne scars, Microneedling is an amazing treatment to help improve your skin’s conditions over time. The procedure works for both men and women on all skin types – from very dark to very light. During consultation, your aesthetician will go over important pre-treatment details to better prepare you prior to your appointment. Microneedling may not be a suitable treatment for you if you have a history of Keloid scarring, Rosacea, Eczema, Psoriasis, blood clotting issues, auto-immune disorders, active bacterial, viral, or fungal infection, active acne or open lesion in the treatment area. We also do not treat patients who are pregnant or nursing.
How is the procedure performed?
Microneedling treatment is normally completed within 60 minutes depending on the required treatment and anatomical site. Topical number cream is applied 15 to 20 minutes prior to treatment, then 30 to 45 minutes of the Microneedling procedure. Our guest report little to no discomfort throughout the course of the treatment following the application of a topical numbing cream. It feels like a soft, gentle pressure on your skin. If you are feeling any discomfort during or after the procedure, please let your aesthetician know so that we may adjust as needed in our effort to achieve a safe and effective treatment without undesirable side effects.
How long will it take to recover?
Microneedling treatment is non-invasive and provides for minimal social downtime. Minor pinpoint bleeding may occur and should resolve within a few hours. You are able to work the next day.
What should I expect after the treatment?
General redness to the skin will appear immediately post-procedure, similar to the feeling of mild to moderate sunburn. Mild flaking will also occur lasting up to 3 to 5 days. Additionally, the most common responses experienced were dryness, rough skin, tightness, redness, itching, peeling, discomfort, tenderness, and burning. These conditions will resolve overtime and the skin will be completely healed without any further complications within 24 to 48 hours. After 3 days, there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place!
What aftercare plan do I need?
Your aesthetician will give you post-treatment instructions and it is important that you follow the aftercare treatment plan. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed. Fully cover your treated skin or use a good sunscreen 1 day after your treatment whenever you go outdoors. Depending on the treatment, we may give you soothing after skin care products and instructions on how to use them.
